There are many attractive paving pack for sale and unlike paving from the post it is set on a full mortar bed as opposed to a sand or ash bed. The packs typically come in 15 sqm meters size so you can have any size in multiples of 15 sqm.

With the pack you need tons of sharp sand, bags of cement, an external water source and paving grout which is resin based. Most modern packs are multi-sized pieces to provide more character. This type of paving is excellent for paths.

The process is as follows:

• Once the ground works are completed take a level to the ground and ensure there is a slight gradient away from the building.
  

• Start to mix up 3 ton of mortar and feed it on to the ground ensuring the tilt is held.
  

• Lay the patio in the configuration agreed with the client.
  

• Clean and sweep in the patio grout.
  

The benefit of this type of patio is the low maintenance, no weeds through the joint and when you have a full refurb it is cost effective and looks good. You should wash your patio at least once a year to keep it looking good. Patios can be sealed with an appropriate sealing agent, but I think it gives a very waxy look, so I am personally not a fan of sealing.
